Nursing is a tough job. Every day you face high pressure situations, life or death emergencies, and unpleasant outcomes. How do you keep up your spirits so that you can continue providing quality care? Well here’s 4 things you can do to instantly boost your mood 24/7.

Today we’re going to talk briefly about four things healthcare providers can do to get an instant mood boost.

1. Remind Yourself That Only You Have the Power to Change Your Mind

One thing to note in the moment is that you have the power to change your mind in this instant. You don’t have to wait on anyone or any particular circumstance to change. You can change your mind and you can do things differently. You don’t have to wait around.

A lot of times we think we’re caught up. That we’re stuck and can’t do anything different. We are right where we are. No. Change how you’re thinking about it. Even more than your intention to change it, you have to be willing to change. Be willing to see your circumstances differently.

2. Tell Yourself that “If It Can Be Done, I Can Do It”

Another thing to do is to note that if it can be done, you can do it. You have the power to do whatever you put your mind to. You are intelligent and capable. Once you get that kind of energy, strength, and belief, knowing you can do things because they can be done, you give yourself the power to do them.

This also means that if someone else can do it, you can do it too. Not that you’re comparing or trying to size yourself up with anybody else. The only thing someone else’s success should do for you is let you know that you can get there as well.

You don’t have to wait on anything in particular. You can just do the best you can so that you can get the achievements you’re going for.

3. Focus on Releasing Whatever Negativity is Affecting You in the Moment

The third thing you can do to boost your mood, is to release whatever negative feelings you’re holding in the moment. Whatever you want to release, you can release. If you feel overwhelmed because something is on you. If something’s just on your mind and you can’t get rid of it or somebody is in your path and you need them to move, release them.

Mentally release them. It’s going to make a big difference. I’m telling you it will. We need to do these things as healthcare providers. When we’re at that bedside, managing that team, or trying to make sure something goes right, we don’t have time for a lot of things clogging our minds.

We need to release things and you need to know that you can release them right away. You don’t have anything really holding you up except your mind. Release it.

4. Remember That You Are and Always Will Be Enough

The fourth thing for you to consider is that you are enough. You don’t need anything else. If you really think about it, you are enough. Meaning if you can do it? You can take care of it. You can work with the team.

If you need to do something alone you can do it. You are enough. Don’t ever feel like you’re not adequate because you are. Everybody has to ask questions and if they don’t ask questions when they have them, then that that means they’re operating in lack.

So asking a question is a good thing. Bringing what you have to the table is a good thing. Doing your best is a good thing. Why? Because you’re enough. Think of those things.

Think that you have the power to change. Think that if it can be done, you can do it. Think that you can release whatever you want. Finally, think, realize, and understand that you are definitely enough.
